Wolverton Mill

Wolverton Mill Balancing Lakes.
It is with regret that MKAA have giving up the fishing rights on these two small balancing lakes. Over the past four years we have tried to regenerate this fishery. We have treated with blue dye to try and reduce the weed and we have stocked 400 small carp into each lake. We know there was a fish kill a feeling years ago but don’t know to what extent as it was cleared up by Anglian Water and we did not find out until after the event.
There have been no reports of any fish being caught since it was stocked 3 years ago. The lakes are fed by run off from the units and road, so the water quality is very poor. The surrounding area is also being developed. The lakes have been in the decline for a number of years and the carp that used to dwell in the lakes all carried a parasite (Chinese Tape worm). The lake also suffered from predation being so close to the river.I was hoping to get the EA to test net the lakes last year, they attended site but the weed is so thick, they would not be able to pull a net through it.We will not be including it in next seasons book and we will be removing from the web. It is not fair on our members to give them a false impression of this venue. The parks Trust will be putting up signs that state No Fishing. End of an era for what used to be a great lads and dads venue.
