Weed cutting

Over the course of a year The Parks Trust will undertake weed cutting on some of its lakes, the main one being Willen South. Willen Lake South is also treated with blue dye to inhibit weed growth.

Unfortunately after any cut some of the weed will drift in the wind. The weed captured at the time of the cut is removed and piled on the bank to allow invertebrates to return to the water. The weed is also easier to remove and transport when it is dry.
